We are delighted to reintroduce this accurate replica G.S. Carpano retro jersey back into the Prendas retro peloton for 2022.

Our retro team jerseys are handmade in our Italian factory using the very best technical fabrics. Featuring a set-in sleeve, they deliver a classic fit with a consistent stretch to ensure full freedom of movement.

With array of details, including silicone grippers, reflective detailing, and three rear cargo pockets, the G.S. Carpano Retro Team Jersey is perfect for looking the part at a vintage cycling festival, or just out for an all-day ride in the sunshine.

Inspired by the Herbie Sykes book on Franco Balmamion 'The Eagle of the Canavese', who was the last Italian to win back-to-back Maglia Rosa's in the Giro d`Italia. We love the monochrome imagery of this classic Juventus influenced cycle jersey.

The 'Juve' style was no accident as Vincenzo Giacotto the team manager was a big fan of that particular team. This did cause a bit of a stir as the people of Turin are split between being fans of 'Juve' or 'Torino'.

In fact, The Turati family (the people who owned Carpano) also had another brand, the chocolatier Baratti & Milano and because the Carpano jersey was highly provocative (to say the least) they ran a second team in 1961, wearing the claret (or 'granata') coloured jerseys of Torino.

The pre 1960`s era of Italian cycling is of course dominated by Coppi and Bartali but the 60`s do not deserve to languish in their long shadow. The jersey was basically the same throughout the team`s incarnation but for one brief period, the Italian scudetto was added which we think makes for an excellent contrast to the black and white of the jersey.

We have seen this jersey replicated (rather poorly in our opinion) many times in the past and are proud to return this Prendas version to it`s rightful place in the retro peloton.

Our grateful thanks to Herbie Sykes for his valuable assistance in this project.
