Café de Colombia Cycling Team

The Café de Colombia cycling team was a Colombian professional cycling team active from 1983 to 1990. The team was sponsored by the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation, which sought to promote Colombian coffee through cycling.

Café de Colombia team featured some of the most talented Colombian cyclists of its time, including Luis Herrera and Fabio Parra. Luis Herrera, in particular, achieved great success by becoming the first Colombian cyclist to win a Grand Tour stage, specifically the 1984 Vuelta a España. He also won the King of the Mountains classification in the Tour de France in 1985. Fabio Parra, another notable cyclist from the team, finished on the podium in the Tour de France in 1988, securing third place overall. 

The team was also known for its distinctive pink and white jersey, which featured the image of a coffee cup on the front. The Café de Colombia team was widely popular in Colombia, and its success helped to popularize cycling in the country and played a crucial role in popularizing Colombian cycling and paving the way for future generations of Colombian cyclists who achieved even greater success on the international stage.
